Holidays start tomorrow and work finally begins! In the last few days I've cleaned out one car of rubbish (literally) and closed the sunroof of Red Bull manually before giving her a quick vacuum. Next it'll be a wash and off to the main shed to get organised for stripping the parts cars....

Mark, now is a good time as any - fresh enthusiasm, achievable goals, something to look forward to. You have my best wishes. I am really looking forward to your first 6.9 being mobile and storming down the road. Regards Styria

The new place has a pool, 3 big sheds and 2 large pergolas. And some nice gardens!! I've just got to maintain it all...

I've been really stuck into the cars the past week and spent almost 3 solid days working on Green Lantern with the help of my dad. We pulled the front and rear screens out followed by bumpers, centre console, dashboard, heater, front guards, fuse box, fuel tank, fuel pump assembly, sunroof and motor, exhaust, engine and trans, tailshaft and finally the whole rear axle assembly. It's really amazing to see how it was all put together by MB and how it comes apart. Not quite finished yet, but after a few more hours the remainder will be off to the wreckers.... Pix to follow after a short break in Tassie.

Most of it was fairly straight forward however I'm still perplexed on how the driveshafts separate from the diff and rear hubs since there's very little lateral movement even with them disconnected. Surely you don't have to drop the diff from the subframe or remove the whole swing arm??

I just started nearly 4 weeks holiday and it's time to make a concerted effort! I'm not going anywhere and will be getting my hands VERY dirty.

I recently bought lots of M117 oil filters and a brand new Bosch fuel pump for one of the 6.9s.

I was lucky today with a special on at Autobarn which led me to purchase the biggest battery you've ever seen and lots and lots of engine oil (including diesel oil for flushing).... :D;)

I'm about to buy a couple of tools to make the jobs a bit easier including a rechargable hammer chisel, heavy duty cart and pallet trolley/lift. I wanted a steam cleaner, but they're far too expensive new and decent second-hand ones are almost impossible to find.
