That finnie looks pretty good but is priced like one that needs no work and has history.

The 380 is not bad but I am no fan of that colour. I like the earlier ikon gold but not the w126 version.

I have not seen a corona like that in years.

I agree Bryce,
The Corona seems like a bargain collectors item.
The interior is quite stunning, and no cracks or damage which 70’s Japanese cars had as standard is a bit of an eye opener.

My father had an early 80s Cressida as a company car for a short period. This was of course back in the days before FBT so company cars were much more common. I can't remember all the details, but I think he had recently joined that company and they had ordered him a car, but it wasn't going to be available for a couple of months. The cressida had belonged to another employee who had left and it had a few months left on the lease.

I recall it being quite comfortable, but a bit boring. it was blue with a blue velour interior. At the time I was helping him pave our driveway and we did a few loads of pavers in the boot in this thing. We filled every available space in the quite large boot on a couple of runs, must have been about a ton of pavers in there. other than looking like a dog with worms dragging its arse, the Cressida didn't really suffer all that much being used as a ute.

Funny how you remember these sort of things.

Great memories mate.

I have to admit, these old Toyota's far exceeded their design brief.

I would even go as far to say, their quality & reliability were number one in the world.
Nothing came close to these cars for uptime.

I'm currently thinking I might get a Superb wagon other than it being a Volkswagen anything I should concern myself with.

Very Nice 280 Tim.
Add it to your garage?

Hi Patrick you are exactly right about the S280.

No room here at home for the W140 unfortunately and I know for a fact the car won’t fit down the driveway!

I have no doubt the S280 will sell and go to another good home.

Nice colour combination!
Good, low mileage example at the upper end of the price bracket.
That would be a fast and smooth vehicle.

Beautifully finished - in my opinion, one of the nicest, if not the, Mercedes Benz models you can buy. Patrick, how would this car compare with your Audi ? I know engine sizes are completely different, but otherwise......? Regards Styria

It’s a much bigger car Styria.
The Audi is on a Golf floorpan, so I would really like to try the bigger and bigger engined CLK for sure.

For CLK's, I am on a nearly impossible quest:
A 2009 CLK500, with the quad cam VVT M273 5.4 litre engine. (last year of the CLK's)
A pocket rocket, but not with some of the AMG extra expenses and harsher ride.

285kW, 530 Nm,
but not not quite as much power as the last of the Holden 6.2 litre V8's.
Nevertheless, even a modern vehicle with electric power, which develops maximum torque at zero revs, should be able to best it 0-30 km/hr.
That's to the other side of an intersection, where you are still well within any speed limit. That is where low end torque is most useful.

Should have made an estate car out of it.
Crayford did that type of conversion.

There is even a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow 11 lobbing around Sydney, rather nicely converted to a station wagon. I remember seeing it in Alexandria about 4 years ago.

Mercedes 300SE Coupe - it starts off brilliantly, but one needs to read further. I think it's Sales Talk extraordinary of a model that, as a rule, can be simply magnificent. This one isn't, but I will let you be the judge.

https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/magazine/2019/1962-mercedes-benz-300se-there-can-be-only-one/

I used to own the Sedan version - great family car, very reliable. I did find out that Air Bags have a life span of about five years. I had one blow in the carport of my home, and honestly I though that someone had tried to blow up the house. The air suspension worked brilliantly, but an original rear valve featuring a vulcanized rubber seal turned out to be unrepairable. Replacement cost of a new unit was about $6K. - for one valve. Food for thought. Regards Styria
