Well, I agree with C107 regarding the dealer's price. He always aims for the sky. The car itself - nowadays, not sure about the leather upholstery, nor the manual transmission. Sure, might be rare, but MB transmission ratios for MBs probably have their origins in the '50s. At least, that's my experience with a 220SE Finnie and a 280SE 3.5 Coupe.

I really like the other two cars that Bryce posted about a bit more - especially the Wagon. Very nice. regards Styria

N.B. By the way, I spotted this Aston Martin Rapide - doesn't that name just saunter down your tongue ? http://www.alexhollandclassiccars.com/2015-aston-martin-rapide-s-auto-my06/ Regards Styria

Both look like nice cars in period colours. I will be interested to see the bidding on the gold one. Probably the odometer being broken so long and the slight front end damage will keep the price reasonable. Depending on what it is, it could be a good buy if the service history shows regular servicing.

The red one looks expensive for what it is, but still a good looking car.

Being late 450s make them more desirable to most (outside the 6.9 of course!)

Besides the red colour, to me the 450SE is more desirable (although it is pricey) and fun to drive as you can feel the extra power from the lighter (shorter) body.

The gold car will get some good bids for sure a nice well presented car with a decent history by the sounds of it.
A few small jobs to do, but seems everything works as it should.

The red car is way to overpriced and with all its faults especially the air cond being un operational for so long, and all its other issues, and considering no one will be allowed to drive it, it is no more than a $5-6k car.

It has had rust issues in the past that’s have been rectified, but cars either have rust or they don’t, there will be more lurking somewhere.

No wonder the boot paint is having issues, a $4500 respray is a cheap closed door respray with everything masked up for sure.

This car will attract zero bids.
Lastly his attitude will deter buyers also.

Unless I am mistaken, the red colour of the 450SE must be the same as Craig's 6.9 that Michel wanted to buy at one stage, but Craig, being as crafty as he is, beat Michel to the punch. I have my doubts, however, if Michel would have been really "over the moon" had he been successful. The car itself is fine, albeit a little pricey, but one can't really get a good look at the carpets and front seats. Regards Styria

One of a number of additional cars of the week. This one, unfortunately, I have not seen personally, but nevertheless it makes for a wonderful addition to the thread. Honestly, I am simply bitten by this exquisite, almost, piece of art. Just look at the interior, the radio, the everything, plus the beautiful Swiss countryside as a bonus. Regards Styria

1936 Horch Roadster - I saw one of those when I was over in Europe in 2005. What a beautiful car. Perhaps not quite as exclusive as a contemporary Mercedes 540K, but just feast your eyes on the engine bay and the dash layout. Strange it may seem to find some significant imperfection in a highly competent restoration such as this - one of my pet observations. Examine closely the positioning of the pleats on the front seats. They do not line up ! Wow ! Otherwise, very, very nice and much sought after. Regards Styria

1956 Mercedes 300S Roadster - again, what a beautiful looking car. Perhaps the Convertible version of this model may top it, but nevertheless it's difficult to not be impressed by the workmanship and elegance. Parks and I (me helping to dismantle) have restored an interior of one of these cars, albeit a Saloon version...The complexity of the door trims is unbelievable, as are the back rests of the front seat - more than God knows how many sharp tacks were holding everything together and where it was supposed to fit.

Also, have a look at the dash, instruments and switches - just unbelievable and all of that from a manufacturer that was bombed out of existence a mere eleven years earlier. That in itself is a miracle. Regards Styria
