450se - For sale

I have been privileged to limited private use of abl567's 450SE - it is obviously Anthony's car. My understanding is that he may well be looking for a good home for this splendid specimen of the 116 range, following his recent purchase of the CLK430 Coupe.

The car, having previously been owned for a number of years by BenzBoy who spared no expense in maintaining it is a splendid driver. Lovely paintwork, free of rust, full sheepskin covers front and rear, and it would be hard to find a better example. Everything works as it should (as far as I know), and surprisingly, fuel consumption isn't too shabby either. I have not carried out a test, but fifty dollars and thirty litres seem reassuringly frugal in covering a reasonable stretch of suburban driving.

Anthony, I might add, is not aware of this thread, so I am hoping that I have not overstepped my privilege of having a small involvement with his car. Regards Styria

I'm about to start getting the 450SE to market.
Michael is correct, I'm looking to reduce the number of cars I have and have decided to concentrate on my W109's, Six 3 and my 300SEL 3.5 that I bought as a parts car but recently got running while retaining the CLK430 as a comfortable and quick daily driver.
The W116 is a 1979 model, 326K's, rego through to March 2016.
I average 14l/100km around town and 12l/100km on the open road.
The only thing I am aware of that is non functional is the heated rear window demister.
The air conditioning compressor was replaced with a brand new unit shortly after I bought the car from BenzBoy so the HVAC works perfectly, ice cold in summer, toasty warm in winter.
I have a comprehensive service and history file for the car and original books.
While I have owned it I've done the brakes with new front rotors and pads and a fluid flush, replaced the drivers side window regulator and of course regular services every 5000kms or 6 months.
Recently a reconditioned power steering pump has been fitted, along with a NOS drivers side door stay and the refurbished rear brakes as noted in another thread as well as a oil and filter service.

Thank you for confirming that Brian, It is certainly an original unmolested car, and a well cared for one. There are not many left like this.

The original owner lives in Armidale or Tamworth (I have forgotten which) and when he retired from being an ophthalmologist he gave it to his daughter in North Sydney; she did not like it because it was too big for her so she sold it to me and then I sold it to you. That's 3 owners.
The original owner is still alive and says he misses it because it was used mainly for driving to and from Sydney in comfort and style.

Hi Daz, I would be very surprised if you were not to like Anthony's car and, whatsmore, decide to buy it. It is not often that a W116 (450SE) in this condition comes on the market. Unmolested! and properly serviced all its life.

I have had the opportunity to be 'taken in' by the straight and purposeful looks of Anthony's car, the way it performs from an engine point of view, and the quality of the suspension and ride. I am a bit like Anthony - it would be great to see it go to a good home. Regards. Styria

Not many nice W116s left unfortunately.
I have always had a soft spot for the model, but I already have too many cars.
