At long last I can now join in and offer my thoughts on this saga of frustration. Whilst Anthony was unable to realize his asking price, it is satisfying to know that in the end he was not unduly out of pocket. At least, the car is now out of his hands, he no longer has to worry about keeping it clean etc. etc., and 116s do need to be used to remain in reliable condition.

Personally, I much enjoyed the driving experience - the car was nice and tight, it drove well, was very comfortable to sit in, and SEL69L applied his detailing skills in fettling the paintwork. Nice car, and most importantly, it has gone to a caring home. Regards. Styria

Well it looks like the new owner has been trying to sell the car since August. During my search this week that resulted in the new W126, I noticed a gumtree ad for this car. It was last updated in August, so I assumed it was an old ad, but dropped the seller an email asking if the car was still for sale. I didn't get a reply until after I had purchased the 300SE, but apparently it is for sale.

Yes, it is in a way quite remarkable how matters transpire. You guys would recall how Darren, for whatever reason, did a huge bolt after everyone, certainly me anyway, would have thought the deal was signed, sealed and delivered. Alas, it was not to be.

So, let's get back to our friend Darren. He pulled out okay back in 2015, right ?He has since put in an appearance on TK in June, 2016. Makes one wonder why. Regards Styria
