Hello Bryce thank you for posting the photos which look terrific and the Bruno Sacco Club run does look a superb day out!

I can't say I can see any W202 C-Class on display at the Club run which is a shame?

I did notice a superb W126 TK Members might recognise the car?

All the best to you Bryce.

Stunning pictures of what ended up being an amazing day.

I'm sorry I missed it.
Although I had planned to be there, other more pressing commitments prevented me from that.

I hope there will be another great day like that for me and others to join.
Congratulations on a great day and impressive organisation!

Hi Tim
Your 300SE is now a regular at club events. I was actually parked next to it in that 1st photo. The club plan to run the event again next year so you should bring your 202. It’s a Sacco design so good to have it represented.

It’s a shame you couldn’t make it. I assume you would have bought your CLK which that era of Sacco cars was not well represented. Probably because they are still not very old and mostly doing daily duties.

As well as the Sacco day which will be annual I have suggested an oldtimer Paul bracq day to cover the 100, 108, 109, 111C, 112C, 113, 114, 115

I would have brought the red CLK 430.
A Paul Bracq day is a wonderful idea!

Hello Bryce that is wonderful news in regards to the 300SE.

Sounds like a plan in regards to the W202.

Cheers.

I wasn't there as I have some pressing jobs on Gleaming Beauty that I would like to attend to. If your destination is as exciting, and the drive is as interesting, club members will turn out in full force and the outcome is there for all to see.

Thanks for those great photos. BTW, was it possible to inspect any of the facilities or exhibits ? I would be much interested to know. Regards Styria

Yes, all the military aircraft were available for inspection and they even started one of them up for us. There must have been 30+ aircraft there.

The Qantas section was closed off due to the 100 years of Qantas dinner that was to be held at the venue on the same day.

As a highlight, my car parked in front of VH-OJA.
VH-OJA was the first 747-400 model for Qantas. The 400 could take a full load of passengers SYD-LAX which was a game changer. Previously they had to take the shortie 747-SP which had poor economics, take a light load, or do a fuel stop.

This aircraft did the longest ever delivery flight of over 20 hours as a publicity stunt in 1989.
By 2015 when it was retired, it had flown 106,154 hours and 13,862 cycles.

Its not visible in this photo, but the aircraft was equipped with the fittings to carry a 5th engine. This is strictly for transport, as the 747 engine was too big for most cargo airliners, so 747's so equipped could ferry one around, with a fuel penalty of course. Not many carriers took this option, but QF did with their long flight lengths.

Very interesting Bryce.

I will look into this 5th engine option.
I’ve not heard of this before.

Ordinary weather, but great pics mate.

How beautiful is Connie!

Here is a photo of a 5th engine QF 747.
Not sure how often they used this capability, I saw one with the 5th engine attached once, I was not on that aircraft but I was on a SYD-USA flight on United airlines and I saw the Qantas aircraft with the 5th engine taxiing.

after that I did a bit of reading on the option. I had never been up close to see the mounting point before yesterday though.

Thanks for the pic.
So they use this to get new or replacement engines from country to country?

I’m guessing it’s not powered up, so they must lock the fan up to stop it from spinning?

Exactly, it was used for 'positioning' purposes.

Positioning purpose Michel?
Getting your engine where you want it.

e.g. for example, if they have a plane with an engine issue in LAX, they can send a replacement engine over on the next flight from Sydney. That engine is just being transported, so no other connections other than physical are there.
