It seems that it is well neigh impossible to sell a Car privately these days.

Yet Auctions are getting results for the older Cars.

Anything in between and out of Warranty it is very hard to find a buyer.

Advice from my local German Car Specialist is to trade in when out of the Warranty. The Dealer can shift them as they can offer a new Warranty.

Maybe that is the key , every body wants a Warranty.

Going through my receipts I decided I didn't want to know. I could have purchased the SL and Red Terror . And that's not including what paint is about to cost.

Michel, everything is optional, and at the discretion of the owner. I very well remember our conversation, and you'd need to bear in mind that the rebuilding and fitting of the replacement pump (as covered in another thread) was subsequent to our conversation. In the light of those subsequent findings, you may well find that there is some merit in my assessment. Remember, the pumps are now at least thirty five years old, so it should come as no surprise that remedial action and repairs are always on the card - nothing lasts forever. Anyway, it's not an issue, as I could well want to fit the unit I have to Gleaming Beauty. Presently not necessary, but it's handy to have a stand-by. Regards. Styria

As I mentioned in the August GTG thread, I had a situation whereby my spray booth was rented to a panel shop operator and that agreement included the storage of the Red Terror (aka 690SEL) undercover at his premises and all covered up.

To cut a long story short, that did not eventuate.
The Red Terror ended up parked in the open but under a roof and subject to the elements.
Yesterday, I walked up to it, opened the door and attempted to start it.
It took four seconds and it fired up.
I let it idle for five to seven minutes, all the time eyeing the front and the rear to see whether it would move up.
Well, it did not... It did not need to!
It had not dropped at all all during its nine or so weeks spent alone, unstarted and looking dusty and sad.

A quick wash, then a quick clay and then I dried it up before I took it for a spin around the block (it was a big block ).

Just a great car...
Ah... and it's inside now

Believe me Godfather, it saddens me too.
But let's see...
I might end up keeping it, it all depends if someone is prepared to pay what I'm asking.
I have not been advertising it anyway.
