There is also a very nice and original 280SE W126. I think its a Malaysian build. don't know if that means it has the full power engine or emissions engine but its very clean:

My instincts tell me that given the body kit, the hektik subs in the boot and the nature of the crash the lucky winner might also be towing home a factory LSD...

I think Mercedes Benz were the first to come up with a full safety cell, and un jamable doors when the W116 was released.
In 1978, the first W116 I ever saw, I was stunned simply by the door locks.
All cars before, and most cars for years and years later all folded like a house of cards.
Even some of our best selling locally made cars were simply death traps when confronted with a crash test.

The ones that are at least worth looking at:

Lot 410 - 230/8. Nice example out of long term ownership. The 230/8 is not a particularly desirable model, but I would much rather a nice 230 than a shabby 280. And its a series 1 car which are much better looking.






Lot 420 - 1977 450SLC - this SLC is a bit shabby, and an import, but could be ok at the right price. Centra wheels and original becker are good. Has been reupholstored in what looks like TEX, or if leather not like the original leather. drivers seat falling apart.





Lot 425 - 1978 280E. A little shabby, but could be tidied up if the price is right. Some rust in front passengers door and drivers seat in poor shape. Missing becker and rear speakers are horrid.




Lot 427 - 1980 280E in WA. If you bought this car you would need to call it Col. Mustard. Has the rare 1986 centenary badge. Still has correct Becker Europa Cassette.

Lot 430 - 380SEC Kiwi import. Ordered with MPH speedo and heated seats for some reason, but MPH speedo is gone. Perhaps intended to be taken to the UK? Wheels are hideous, and the velour upholstory has been replaced with post 1988 seats, but overall it looks ok if the price is right.




Lot 431 - 280SE W126. A very nice car, and it does look low mileage, although not sure if the actual reading is accurate. Could be a great buy. Becker missing.





Lot 434 - 300D 1984 - On the surface looks ok, but it seems it has been fitted with an aftermarket turbo kit, a big no-no on these engines unless you source a turbo engine from America.

Lot 433 - There are a few white 126's for sale, but unlike some of the others, this one actually looks nice, and early bidding reflects that. Comes with books and original becker.

That nice original 280SE W116 with the green interior is back at auction again, but this time on Grays. I don't see it doing better on Grays than Lloyds and I think it got to market value both previous times it went up. It looks like a nice car, its just that these don't have the highest market value.

This petrol blue 450SE has been on FB for a few weeks now. It was put up for a very unrealistic $22k, now its reduced to $16,900. It looks like a nice car

Besides the burgundy 500SL, the other 107s didn't do that well.

yeah other than a couple of exceptions (e.g. Pagodas), collector car prices are back below pre-covid.
A lot of sellers have not yet adjusted to that yet, so cars stay for sale for months. Auction hammer prices are showing that buyers are just not willing to pay those prices anymore.
