Just why?????

Michel, As you're in the bodyshop industry, you may be able to comment but my assumption is that to create such a thing would be quite an expensive exercise, much more expensive than fixing the front of the W111 coupe properly.

So now you have a 111 coupe that is worth half of what it should be, you've spent thousands on custom body work and you had to buy a W116 parts car to cut off the front and use the rear bumper!

I must admit that I don't really mind that car all that much. Given the asking price, it's probably north of reasonable, but if the interior was right, and the mechanicals stacked up, it doesn't look all that bad. Regards Styria

Sadly, that car isn't worth what a W111 coupe is worth, because in reality, you'd buy it to return an original front to it and you'd scrap the W116 end or sell it as parts.
And you're right, the labour costs involved would've be horrendous.

Must have big balls to tow with that - considering the very narrow frame of the towing vehicle and the massive trailer and weight behind.

I think these CE's are pretty good cars. The main issue with these late W124 is the biodegradable wiring harness. Could be a good buy for somebody if that work is done.

There’s a guy in Granville who will do you an exchange wiring harness for under a grand fitted.
I’ve used him on a W202 and he was excellent! It cost me around $800 at the time. I left the car there for a week
I’m sure he’ll do a W124 as well.

Very pretty car, but the mileage worries me considerably. In this present day and age, even a simple valve grind and de-coke can involve serious money, especially when compared with the retail value of the car itself. It's become that sort of a market in the last few years. Regards Styria

Thats an interesting conundrum. 260E in this condition, or 300E in v nice, but not as good condition?

From the engine bay looks like it was originally a bronze colour.
Also radiator support is missing the placards showing a respray.
