I can remember In the late 90s you could pick up an old Datsun for about $1000. Maybe not as nice as this one though!

Just a little more effort would turn this into a real wow, but just ordinary.

Hi Patrick and Michel, obviously I am in agreement with both of you. I do think that the engine bay really needed a bit more than just a clean and tidy up. Unfortunately the engine bay demonstrates that the car has lacked a bit of TLC in general. This is also evidenced by the worn front and rear seats that require some fairly substantial work to bring them up to date. They look tired. Regards Styria

Wow, that 380SEC sold for $1709, The 450SEL for $7709, The 280CE for $2300 and the 250SE for $9409

These are interesting figures. The 380SEC - great value for money but you've got to ask yourself why the 450SEL should have fetched that much more money. I have already commented on the upholstery, but one should also have a look at the carpet on the driver's side. Not the best.

The 280CE - in good condition, these are an extremely beautiful model. However, with this car, the summary and write-up showed the car to be in a poor light. In addition, the body rubbers for these Coupes are EXPENSIVE !

The 108 - a lovely car. Bryce, the fitting of these speakers in the door cards (I call them door trims) is actually a position where even original Mercedes speakers have been fitted from new. Regards Styria

Yes, the 280S is hard to fault. There really is a strong following for the Ch. 108 and Ch.109 models by aficionados that wouldn't even look at a Ch. 116 car sideways. I know most people prefer the 280SE 3.5 but the 6 cylinder models give away very little in the desirability stakes. Regards Styria

......and whatsmore, it is a really nice colour combination. It looks good, and when you think about it, this car represents a lot of car for little money as so many Mercedes Benzes are inclined to represent. A great pity. Regards Styria

I spoke with the seller via email today.

He said the only issue he was told by the repairer is the rear engine mount requires replacing.

He said the car drives well, and there are no intermittent issues or warning lights at all.

I think it just goes to show, the S Class are really a cut above the rest when it comes to quality of their build and longevity.

I really haven’t seen any well maintained S Class give issues, but the lesser models especially those made in different countries seem to be problematic.
