Very fetching Red Citroen C4 VTS 2 door I always thought these were a nice looking car . It has the same engine as the Peugeot 306GTi6 just not 6 speed only 5 speed. Ok not what I have read . It's the same family engine series as Peugeot own Citroen. I do know its 6kw more powerful than engine in 306gti6. It is actually same engine as 307 and 206gti. Just checked so improved and more modern engine than fitted to 306GTI6

Yes, now that part is correct. The engine in the 306 GTi6 is a British engine (The Brits took the existing 306 engine and added different head and porting etc.) while the 307 engine which is from the EW series is entirely French with different power curve and torque range.
The 307 engine may be more modern but it's not necessarily improved.

The VTS prior to the C4 has the same engine with a different ratio box. That is, the Xsara VTS.
The C4 is still a nice car.
