Truth is If i wanted a convertible it would be a R230 as the boat has sailed on R107 values especially if a 560 version all over 100k . And has started to sail on R129 values. I can now get a R230 like one pictured with low km for less than ordinary meaning not very good condition R129.

R230s are still not cheap enough.
It is amazing how expensive they still are in Oz, when you can buy an equivalent overseas for less than a third to a quesrter of the price here.

The Silver one I posted was in Sydney and is now sold at a dealership. Had 79000km was a 2002 R230 SL500 . It was Under $30000 ok only by $10 but still . Silver is the Mercedes default colour .

The ABC turned me off that one, while Airmatic offers alternative component suppliers if and when a problem arises ABC does not, and you need the correct, read expensive, diagnostic system to diagnose and repair. Even a fluid change needs this for rodeo mode. I've driven a CL55 and it is just amazing but I'd not own one for a daily drive.
That and the rear seat of the LWB S500 makes my children shrink so they don't seem as grown up as they are getting :)

I dismissed the S430 because heated seats were a must for me, the CLK had them and I was addicted after the first 0 degree morning here, I was warm by the time I got to the front gate!

You are correct about ABC just looked it up Airmatic is on C216 . One I showed is later updated model . But I may have to learn how to repair ABC if I want one then. Just as well I may be in right place to learn in the future then isn't it.

I've just returned from Dubai, where any colour is available on any model of any brand.

Here, the importers are scared to order a red S-Class because they feel no one will buy it -- for the simple fact that whoever is buying such an expensive car always thinks of the resale.
Unless its black, white or any of 50 shades of grey, it has to be a special order. :eek: :eek:

My parents had one in a light blue metallic. It was a colour that was never common on the W220. It got hit while parked by a drunk driver and never drove the same. They had planned to keep the car for a while, but traded it in because of the way it drove after the crash. I drove it before the crash and it was nice and smooth but I found the steering over light.

I had assumed I would like the W220 in red but this one is too bright. I think it would be nicer in a dark red with a cream interior.

I like that colour better. The interior would be better in a cream than the stark white, but still very nice. I would be happy to have a car like this, KMs are low, colour is nice, it has a V8 etc. I don't normally care for aftermarket wheels, but these ones work.

I would replace the radio with one of the aftermarket units that fit into the factory opening.

Just as added point of interest. The W220 S430 has 205kw which is 15kw more than an Australian 6.9 . Not anywhere near the torque but also listed as doing 0-100 in 7.3 seconds which is also same time as Australian 6.9 . Depending on road test the 6.9 is between 7.4 to 7.2 for same sprint.
