Haha! Deja vu! I bought a 550i from Grays SA in 2021, only to discover a parking ticket under the driver's seat with its previous Vic rego. Put that into google and hohoho; sold by Grays Vic in 2019 with 120000km more on the clock than I bought it with, which massively explained why the cluster thought the car should have various features it didn't.
Thing is, Grays SA operates under the parent dealer licence, issued in NSW. And *in NSW* dealers can lose their licence for "knowingly" selling a clocked vehicle. It'd be trivial to prove Grays (should) know: they record every car's VIN. I contacted SA really only to try and get a line on the vendor to demand the original cluster so the car could be blue slipped, but they very quickly offered to buy it back. In NSW. For what I had spent on the refurb (including transport from SA to my door), not just what i paid at the auction.
So they could crush the evidence no doubt.
