Its generally pretty reliable, but if it fails, the car is not operative and it can be extremely expensive to fix. Sometimes it's just some speed sensors, but not always.

Its completely unnecessary on a 420. With its extremely tall gearing & second gear start, you'd have to be driving like a complete yob.

Agree , W126 with ASR is a no go unfortunately. Nobody can test this system to diagnose and parts are crazy price. Also to remove you would need a donor vehicle

The seller may mean ABS rather that ASR......if he has the plates from a white Benz on a green Benz then maybe he is confused; or not quite legit.
The VIN will reveal.

Check the VIN to be sure but it has the snow chain button on the dash which is only present if ASR is installed.

Ridiculous price I highly doubt it's as good as the one Mb Spares sold last year and it was under 20 by a fair margin with just under 200000km on it .

The /8 has never been my favorite Mercedes but the pre facelift 280E is definitely the one to have, even more than the coupes. love the colour too,

Them "wus" the Days ...... Back in the Seventies I bought a new 280 E every couple of years and got my money back each time when sold. I was living in Brisbane then and sold the cars to a Sydney used car dealer on the phone.
I can't remember why it was so . .....But whose complaining.

They must have been a revelation in their day. 185hp DOHC six when most other cars on the market didn't have half that.
