Starting installing a Becker in my 107. A few things.

1) Testing the radio:

2) Upgrading the speakers

3) Doing the wiring:
Fascinating.. great explanations!

Bryce.
Here is an image of your 450SLC original owner.
Neil Fletcher of Fletchers Photographics fame.
He is the one on the far right sitting next to his wife Irene, who are sitting next to my mum and dad.
Irene is my dad’s niece, however we always called him Uncle Neil.
He and his wife were always the trend setters (check out the clothes) and lived in Vaucluse if I remember correctly.
The main thing was they were always lovely, nice, genuine and great people.
He simply started out as a wedding photographer.
As I mentioned I had a ride in his new car, on the day this photo was taken, he had only had it a week.

Thanks for Posting the photo Patrick!

we’ll have to find a time for you to take another ride in the car, but 46 years later.

if I recall the car was delivered to Neil in June of 1977, but I’ll check the records.

That is a great pic Patrick.
I remember Neil as I worked in the photographic trade for many years, first at Bernie Silver camera stores and then at Foto Riesel.
Fletchers Photographic and and Georges Cameras were the big guns in the industry!

I’d like that Bryce.

That’s some amazing insight Michel.
Those shops lasted for ever, and they seemed to be everywhere.
Neil only worked in the Pitt Street shop.
This is my cousins wedding Michel.
I was 7 or 8
I clearly remember Neil photographing this wedding, of which this image was one.
That is my dad and my sister dancing.

I Looked up the records I have for the car.

It was delivered to Neil July of 1977. Selling dealer was McIntosh of Mosman. That dealer is still there, although under different ownership and with a new name. I found a keyring from that dealer that I keep the keys to the SLC on - the keyring is from the 190s I think. At that time, the car had the registration JNQ322.

I got the RMS rego report and it would appear it kept that registration and stayed with Neil under business ownership until 22/7/1991. However, the record keeping in that era was not so great, so its possible he sold it and the records were lost. Patrick, do you remember how long Neil kept it?

The car was then transferred to private ownership until 1995. I assume Neil sold it as it started to be serviced in Brookvale, not Swatosch in Alexandria. Helmet remembers servicing it in the late 70s.

It then went to business ownership 20/3/95, and stayed there until 29/10/97. During that period it moved to the new slimline plate AEN19H. It stayed being serviced in brookvale, so it may have been kept by the same person but put in a business name, or maybe sold locally.

It was issued a new service book in 1997, and the owner Mr A Parker wrote his name and address in there. I'm not sure if Mr Parker was the owner until 97 or the next owner.

30/10/97 it went into private ownership again, and would stay there until 7/10/2002.

8/10/2002, it was purchased by property developer Tibor Balog in Vaucluse. He had owned a 450SLC when new, and wanted to experience one again. However, he was quite elderly buy then and struggled getting in and out of the car. He sold the ar to me 30/4/03 and went to a Rav 4 or similar.

That is what I know, not sure Patrick if you remember anything that could add to Neil's time owning the car.

I’m sorry to say I don’t know how long he kept the car Bryce, but I do remember seeing it at many family events over the years.
I also remember his car previous to this, not sure of the exact model, but was definitely a coup similar to this.

No worries. That is a c114. I did an overview of the models on my blog, but depending on how long he had it before trading in, was likely 250C or CE, or more likely 280CE.

As an update, had the timing chain and valve seals done on the SLC, as it was constantly fouling plug #1. Now all good.

Also replaced the under bonnet insulations, on the 107 there are two and they are a bit of a pain to do:
