Better than ! We totally redesigned the piston and had them made from forged alloy. I own the mould.

Interesting car, of sorts - obviously, no one has been able to start it so I guess all the fun will start in due course.

It is indeed quite a rare car, and certainly has intrigue or that "what will I find in due course" appeal. The 300 engine is impressive to look at, but certainly expensive to "bring up to scratch". I am not here to knock the car, but I did own a 1966 300SE (long wheel base !) Finnie for seven years, so I do know quite a bit about them. The M189 300 engine - interesting from a technical point of view, because it has a flat head, with combustion chambers machined into the pistons. I believe that this arrangement is called a Heron head - someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Ant in his own right has an interesting 300SEL on hand that just about no one knows about - it could make a good resto project ! I am really looking forward to hearing more about this 3 litre car that has just been purchased for Anthony's friend. Regards Styria
