the brake pad light came on recently, so friday nite went to change the pads.

Looks like one piston has been doing the work of two. Measured the thickness of the rotor and it's almost out of spec too.
Put the old pad back in until I can get these rebuilt - kits on order.

Common problem which I think I’ve got on Dora (560SEL). I plan on rebuilding both calipers & a respray. Hoping the pistons are ok....

The 560SEC has gone in for some work this week that should have a number of issues fixed.

1) Front calipers rebuilt and rotors changed over.
2) Will check rears while he is there, I have rebuild kits available for the rears should they be needed. Given rears gum up more that fronts, I think the chances are reasonable they will need it.
3) Major power steering leak - I suspect box may have to come out to be re-sealed. Supplied a steering coupler if it does, might as well change while there.
4) A/C can't keep a charge, blacklight shows a lot of leakage around the compressor. have supplied a new compressor, tx valve, drier. Also trying the klima kit upgraded condenser for better AC performance on R134A. I like ICE COLD AC.

The car is back and the brakes are rebuilt. One half of one of the calipers was siezed in so badly he used another one he had in the shop. New rotors etc all on. Brakes feel better.

The A/C is also done and its nice and cold now. I've done a more extended write up here:

The work to install the becker has started. But first I wanted to find the X30 power block that is referenced in the manuals, but only its position in the LHD cars is noted:

From there, I need to remove the rats nest of old wires that supported the now defunct cobra car alarm.

Part two done - the system works and I am pretty happy with it. Just needs some fine tuning and to tidy up the install.

The Becker is in the car and I am very happy with how it looks and performs.

I have a couple of minor issues I need to resolve but overall it’s working well.

Got the 560SEC back after a rebuilt steering box (was leaking) and the guide rod mount bushes. They actually looked alright, but the oil leak had been covering one of them and so It was recommended they were changed. I'm glad we did, as they had clearly been in since the car's time in the UK and were well past their use by date.
