Nice colour Matt yes they are a truly under rated car we have had ours a year and I can tell you know nothing else out there comes close for comfort and silence, I too wish I'd brought one years ago. Purchase parts from the US way cheaper than buying them here in OZ. May it bring you many miles of smiles they are one of my favorite Mercedes if you ever need tech advice on it just send me a pm.

I personally have always liked the looks of the W140 models, and have also been taken by their sheer size. That has always been one aspect oft criticized by the press and car magazines and, may I add, without genuine understanding and appreciation of why this model was built in the first place and what had been the aim of Mercedes in building it. It was to be bigger and better, and it was really their showpiece of the latest in electronics and passive and active engineering.

I guess it's fair to say that they didn't get everything right, but if you can accept and afford the repair bills, you have a mighty car on your hands. Mat, you did aprecis also of ownership in one of the Club magazines - I would encourage you to post similar on topklasse. It was a most enlightening read. Regards Styria
