Variable valve duration technology

I love pretty much all and any new technology.
However this seems to be over complicated, for not a whole lot of gain, except in the emission side.

Considering cam less electronic valve actuators (like modern F1) have been around for a while,
It seems to me with so much time and money invested, Hyundai had to bring it to market I guess.

Fascinating Technology Maybe too late, as we face an Electric future Hopefully not....I wonder if variable Turbo Charging would do much the same Job with the existing Variable Valve Timing Systems. ( Larger electronic controlled Turbo ) The current Air Con compressors are now infinitely Variable. The Piston type Compressors drew a lot of Engine power. I rebuilt mine on my 107 6 cylinder to stop engine stalling under 800 RPM idle. Sourcing the bearings was not easy.

Sadly, electric will take over
