shame its that far gone, but there are some good parts on it.
I never understood why so many 6.9s were so badly neglected until i saw the depreciation numbers.
The cost of repair would have been the biggest reason, obviously considering the unique parts.
I recall checking on the cost of a water pump many years back and it was in the thousands of dollars.

Okay, Oversize or anyone outthere in the wonderful world of the multi tasked web - I am looking for a starter motor suitable for a 6.9 - can anyone help ?

Mark, I have mentioned this to you before - are you the saint that can help me ? Surely there must be something in your collection that resembles this item ? Regards Styria

Still in situ but most of the front now removed incl hydraulics. So annoying when others have tampered with parts before & rounded hex nuts or bolts cause they’ve not used pipe spanners or been careful enough & cross threaded connections. In saying that, the dry sump hoses are insanely tight & access is poor due to large fittings in a tight space, so it’s very hard to avoid damage....

Always sad to see a 6.9 bite the dust (although the parts will be useful to other cars)

After a replacement manifold fell through & after considering other options I finally got the manifold off this car!

Mongrel of a job since the EGR pipe at the back fouls on the head and so does the lower plenum.

Best attempted by removing the thermostat housing and pulling it up from the front. You need a large lever too in order to flex the EGR pipe around the head.

I discovered the throttle linkage shaft at the back was missing a throttle ball & one of the connectors was almost seized! Must’ve added a lot of resistance to the accelerator pedal! So make sure yours is checked & well lubricated....

For our USA Traveller Bryce ... Been watching a Mecham's Auction for pre Nineties Cars in the States all look beautifully restored and most under 10 Grand... the Painting alone would be more than that..
A mid Eighties 560 SL which included a Hard Top 150,000 Mls in excellent condition $6500.. .Are these prices current ?
A mid eighties Sl here for that Money .... X 6 would be neared an estimate.

They sold so many 560SLs in the USA, they are only worth anything with super low mileage. plus the railway sleeper bumpers are a deterrent to many.
