This is how the front end will remain (no bumpers), though I do have another addition that didn't get finished (but will in the morning). Watch this space... ;)

Pleather of DEATH!
050708015.jpg
050708016.jpg

Doesn't look that bad till you see it from this angle! This was mainly caused from pushing it (connected to the boss) onto the spline.
The WORST steering wheel EVER!! One of those, 'seems really good' evil-bay purchases.

And so the list get's smaller...

  • New rotors (drilled / vented) plus hopefully some sort of ducting down to the discs for cold air
  • New shocks - Re-built Bilsteins
  • New Springs - Lowered - K-MAC customs, Firm as f*k
  • New diff (as talked about 3.46:1 LSD from 350SLC) Update - Nobody in Australia (that i've spoken to) can source me an LSD diff, other than the 6.9 extremely tall ratio..
  • New Competition pads' (same as Ian's hunted down)
  • Fix o-ring on master cylinder & swapout master cylinder @ same time (not too bad, but has to be done)
  • More tyres (picking them up on 19th of april, or the 29th or the 12th at either 1200, 1900 or 2900 hrs.. don't ask!)
  • Pleather of death. - DEAD!
  • exhaust chopped at 1st muffler - stuck out the side. This was also not a feasible upgrade due to legalitys, instead a 're-jig' of the curren system was undertaken and exhaust is now quite 'tasty'. ;)
  • Sway Bar Rubbers
  • L&R Upper Control Arms
  • L&R Tie Rod Ends
  • L&R Lower Control arm
  • Lower Ball Joints (Front)
  • Steering Damper
  • Wheel alignment
  • New Spark Plugs (Beru 4 prong mofo's)
  • Oil filter / change
  • Fuel filter
  • Transmission service
  • Remove ALL External A/C equipment (compressor, condensor, piping)
  • Remove all interior
  • Install bucket seat
  • Install Race Harness
  • Remove Sunroof
  • Re-paint & apply de-cals
  • Customise Air Intake
  • Hack up & flare guards to allow for stupidly low, rock hard springs
  • Install of in car race cam (no not me, an actual camera)

Whoa, had I not read the text I would've been asking if that shed was TeamW116 HQ:cool:

Pleater of Death. I think it bent when you reefed it off the Batmobile:D What a shame it bent. I'd like to know how those kind of wheel are like to steer with. ie can you leave your hands on the one place all the way round a track in a w116 with the occasional cross over perhaps. Any further I'd probably go to grab the wheel and miss. Did you get a chance to use it at all?

More impotantly. Fantastic effort on the seat there. Some quality welding by the few bits I can see.

One more week guys.

Sorry dude, didn't keep the design - though... I can easily remove them now that everything 'moves' and works properly. (the height adjuster etc) So can easily get the measurements and all that. We could even pull it out next Sat if you want and measure it up then? OR - i'll pull it out sometime in the coming week(s) and get my mate to zap up another couple.

The passenger side will be different with no height adjuster.

Oscar,
That shed has another 15 or so shed's just the same next to it, all with hoists for Mercedes and Renault buses. They have a tyre changing bay, steam cleaner room, panel beating shop.. If you saw it, you'd blow your load.. A mate I met through work a couple years back, and cabled his house for him, hooked me up with one of his mates who's been working there for 27yrs! I know why....

I drove only about 6-7km's with it on (just to get back to my other wheel) and to be honest, that style is pretty f*kn sh!t! I couldn't turn full lock driving cause of the suspension (a little more tweaking remains) but even 90deg turns you had to turn it past the point where I had to re-position my hands, and it didn't feel natural cause of all the contours.
I'm gonna swap it out for a standard round racing wheel.

The welding blows me away, during the time I was removing the seat, my mate managed to knock up a tool box (bout 2m long) and mount it under the rear of his truck (bracket and all). I'm gonna get him an "I am the Stig" shirt but cross out the St and make it an M. :D

....counting the sleeps my man - though still have ALOT to get done before I hit the hume.....

Final update on this.

Only things I didn't get done were the rotors, sunroof and cold air intake.
Had to settle for my current cold air intake, though it did serve me well.

oh yeah.. the purpose built race cam never got finished either.

New target list will be created for wakefield (August 31st)

More than likely some aluminium sheeting and paint. :)
(possibly some sort of rods for support welded to the roof, just in case)
:D

I reckon maybe, that you could just use the sheet metal off the old sunroof perhaps. Tear the guts out of the framing etc and just use the roof sheeting. I dunno.... Hang on yes I do.

Escape/Smoke hatch!!! You know, like the dragsters, funnycars with the hatch. Hinges on the front, push open :D Or maybe not.
