Hi Brian my S280 was a series 2 96 onwards but the first clue is this bumpers were more rounded and front indicators are clear. Climate control is lcd display same as in Michels W208. Early series 2 S280 still had 4 speed auto went to 5 speed end off 96 . This is a very nice Series 2 S500 at Rolls seller in Victoria you know about. http://www.carpoint.com.au/all-cars/dealer/details.aspx?R=OAG-AD-847021&Cr=4

Not only am I giddy, but I am running around in circles. What a car - it is simply unbelievable, especially at this cost and superb condition. Now, could I afford to run this car, or could someone give me a three years or 60K. kilometres warranty, no questions asked ...........Not a car and a half, but a triple car dollar for dollar wise ! Regards Styria

Hi Styria don't worry I have PM Brian and told him what to look for. And said if any questions to ask . As for the S500 I think it would deserve consideration seeing as it claim of single ownership.

They might have been the most technologically advanced Benz of their time but they certainly do nothing for me on the 'looks' side.

Never been a fan of the W140.
Look at a W126 (a timeless classic) and what came after: how could M-B designers have gone so wrong!

Sorry, but the W140 looks very bland to me

On that front I will agree Michel. Then you drive one. And they are so quiet and isolated its not funny. I have driven a W220 but not the latest models and no comparison between W140 and W220 in road noise suppression . W140 wins hands down.

Hey - try this!

A quick check with the RMS online Registration Check shows the car was de-registered in August 2014. This was some months after the car was first advertised for sale by Larke Hoskins Honda.
I've had the salesman chasing me all week trying to get me to buy it but they just blew their chances out of the water with this move.

They would take not $6500 for and now they want $9850 and still no rego....
Ah; the joys of horse-trading.

Brian

If you read my posts from the bottom you will see that it is an S280 at Larke Hoskins Honda - when I looked at it was $7450 negotiable and then jumped in price to $9850 - not negotiable and still with out registration. I surmise that they believed it was not selling because the price was considered to be too low - that is, that if priced higher buyers would think it to be of higher quality.
I was not sufficiently excited by it to push hard.
All the events are there but there are a few posts to get through to get the drift.
Regards,
Brian

I will most likely look for another W140 once I get settled. They really are great cars.
