Probably one of the least 'pretty' models in modern RR and Bentley cars.

It would have been designed when RR owned it, but it is obviously a facelift that would have had a fair bit of BMW influence, especially the V12.

VW took a joint ownership with BMW in 1998 and this lasted intil 2003 when BMW bought the licence from R-R Plc to produce the Goodwood Phantom and VW took ownership of Bentley.
This particular model is the basis of the Royal Bentley used by HM - and I agree with Michel that it is not a favourite of mine.
Now you may be suprised at this - I think the Goodwood Phantom is a spectacular car and since it devalues at the rate of $AUD2000 per week, I can see one in my garage sooner than later. The Goodwood Phantom turns 10 in 2013 so by about 2023 I should be able to afford one...

Hmmm probably why im not so keen on the newer shapes although im told they are a fabulous car to ride in.

If I were to buy something of this stature I think id be looking at the past 20 years of Bentley to be adorning my Garage.

Fabulous to ride is is nothing compared to fabulous to drive. I was stunned at what happened when I floored the Goodwood Phantom at the lights. In about 5 seconds we were 2 suburbs further down the road in almost total silence and the handling is mind-boggling. The cabin boy in the hot RX7 who had challenged me at the lights must have been wondering if he had forgotten to put his car in gear!
Oh yes, I'd have one today.
I've also grown to like the front treatment.

I just posted becauce the Seraph is a hic up on the history off Rolls Royce . Do i like them no but the same body Bentley Arnarge i dont like eihter. And Brian impressive as the new phantom is i dont like the front end treatment. But i Do like the new update front end so my only dislike with the new Phantom has been fixed. having siad that i would love to have the new Ghost . Geoff

I went to the launch of the Ghost EWB but I have not yet driven one. I could live with a Ghost I think.
I have a pup called Ghost In My House. Does that count?

See if I were to go down this route I think id be better served by a Bentley Turbo R or an Arnage (Which I believe share the Silver Seraph underpinnings)

They just look so nice and sporty!

Actually just browsing carsales I see Turbo R and Mulsanne Bentleys are now under 40k, A Nice dark green would do nicely I think!
