What is that gizmo with all the buttons on top behind the steering?
The first car has a VK5 Verkerskurier (early version of traffic notification RDS). THe control for it is the extra rotary control on the add-on wood block in the oddments compartment. My red 6.9 originally had it fitted, and I would desperately like to get my hands on the bits to reinstate it.
Its possible to buy the knob on-line for semi-reasonable prices, but the wood housing - I've never seen one for sale.
The first car must be a 280 with 4 speed auto because the speedo has shift markings I, II and III.
The first car also has the very rare outside temp gauge n'est pas.
