Gents,

A couple of questions please to get my 560 fully up to spec.

Did all Australian delivered 560’s have a fire extinguisher fitted?
The below pic seems to show 2 stainless screws, however there does not seem to be any witness marks for a fire extinguisher bracket.

I really don’t want to fit one if it wasn’t supplied originally.

Lastly.
Is there any particular coolant type or brand you guys favour that I should run in the 560, and is the ratio 50/50?

The Aussie cars had a metal bracket that held a yellow halon (BCF) extinguisher. I prefer these but they’re not kind to the ozone layer apparently:

Those screws held the bracket...

With coolant go 50/50 distilled water with factory concentrate or this stuff:

I think so. My dad had a few new ones during this period, and they all came with fire extinguishers. This included an 84 230E, 86 230E, 87 230TE. I also had a 85 230E that still had its yellow extinguisher and my 450SLC still has a red one.

My 86 300SE doesn't have it, but it was probably removed and my other 126 is a pommie import so also doesn't.

I have tracked down an extinguisher, but the owner does not have a bracket.

I am also struggling to find any images of a fire extinguisher in place on the net.

I just want to be sure I get the positioning correct.

Pretty confident they all had extinguishers when delivered. I probably have a few brackets & pix; I’ll have to check.

Hi Patrick, this has probably already been answered, so I might be doubling up. Not sure if every Mercedes was fitted with the Fire Extinguisher, but most W116s and W126s had them as standard equipment. If you are short of bracket and/or Extinguisher, I would be able to help you. Regards Styria

Yes looks correct. Just remember they were banned in 1995 so possess it at your own risk (I doubt anyone would care & they work better if they’re still pressurised)!

Yes mate, it’s weird, the end/handle is also notched a tad (see pic) almost like it would slide into an extension piece??
