Did I forget to mention that VW have revived the Miller Cycle Engines?
Alongside a new Variable geometry Turbo it should overcome the drawbacks of holding the inlet valve open in the compression stroke. More power and better economy. The march of time.

Google New 1.5 Lte Vw Engine and all will be revealed in detail.
It is probably the most advanced small Car engine planed . Short of solenoid operated Valves in the future.

Very true Helmet, but the advances in Turbo Charging and modren Electronics have given it a big boost.
Now we need someone to solve the problem of high fuel consumption of the Rotary Engine.

Same as a SL 380 I bought new in 1981 I sold it at 50,000Ks also a Triumph Stag at same Ks. and a 73 250 Merc, with worn Valve Guides at 40,000Ks Sold !!!
Our two W204 CGIs still Drive as new at high nineties Ks. Though I have switched to 10/40 Oil to aid the Timing Chain Tensioners.

I am not quite sure what we are talking about, but I was obviously interested in Sean's remarks on various aspects of what appear to be flawed engine designs. As some of you would be aware, I am quite familiar with the Rover 3500 V8s, some of which have found their way into Triumph Stags, that were also fitted with a V8 of their own design, but possessing a dreadful reputation as far as designs and reliability are concerned. It was just recently that I came across an article/video which clearly honed in on the design shortcomings of that Triumph engine, and explained in precise details as to why they were totally unreliable. When I find this item, I will post it in this thread. Regards Styria
