I always wanted a W116 as it was the first Merc from my family my father had the 280S 1974. I found this one on Gumtree I wasn't really particular what model to get but this one surprised me on how genuine it was the colour was different especially the late model options sunroof. My friend Nick did the inspection & Bryce knew these models well and assisted me on what there worth and look for I'd really appreciate there help and I'm happy with my car
It was also struggle to chase the original books from the first grandson owner until he generously finally handed over the car had up to date service history and matching the 280,000kms which was a well maintained car by the owners grand parents in Melbourne.
The car runs mechanically great I do have to sort some minor rust spots and get the AC working again as I'll be moving up to Brisbane it will be bugger hot.
Under my ownership I'm keeping this car original as possible and just giving it a regular tidy up and will plan road trips for 2023
