Apply water and note the water just beads off and I have noticed the car does have a much deeper gloss and the paint surface is so smooth!

Can't forget the Yaris ceramic spray coated as well black cars never easy to keep clean?

What is the saying about looking after cars 'labour of love', well worth it!

is anyone able to explain in laymans terms ceramic coating. You hear of people spending thousands on it, and also these self applicators. What does it do and why do people use it? Is it good or snake oil?

I can't explain it but the end result is not snake oil. For example my experiences with a detailing spray, which is what Tim used is as follows:

• Meguires - not better than a damp cloth.
• Autoglym - nice shine.
• Swissvax Nano detailer - spectacular shine.

That is all I can go on plus when I have seen ceramic coatings on other peoples' cars they have looked better than expected.
What is the active part that gets these results? I don't know.

I’ve tried the Mothers product. Yes it looks great and easy to apply but it doesn’t last like Carnauba wax that looks great as well
