In the perhaps somewhat foreseeable future, I will be (we will be) contemplating the purchase of another (family) everyday vehicle. Naturally, Mercedes are on the list, and I must admit that I absolutely adore the interior of the S-Class models. Patrick's S430 has, as stated , an absolutely gorgeous interior - one would be hard pressed to find nicer as long as it is a LIGHT colour, and some of its features are mind boggling. Personally, I would not wish to purchase anything prior to 2004.
But then, I think about repair and parts costs. I know that most "newish" cars can cost the proverbial bomb, but I tend to think that Japanese (Thai built ?) or Korean, are a preferable option. Just as an aside, my Holden Captiva, Korean built, has turned out to be a fantastically reliable form of transport. So, when one looks at Mercedes in my price range of, say $8K. to $16K., the choice is bewildering .My understanding is that there are about nine thousand Benzes (at least) on the second hand market. Patrick, the car you bought (S430), you have obviously have spent money on that. Radiator etc........? Do you think you are able to make a profit on your purchase, and do you know what sort of money you are wishing to sell the car for ? Don't know if you're able to answer at this point of time, but I am curious. Regards Styria
