Thanks to the efforts of Bryce and TK's rotating gallery, I have been provided with the option of rekindling this thread, and all of the various contributions that arose from the publication of this same. Of course, as is the wont the thread has died in the proverbial, shall we say, maelstrom of activities. Just to be cheeky, I am still awaiting Oversize's dramatic financial incentives to part with this modifications obviously manufactured by the Company.
As some of you would be aware, I have relocated my activities to Seven Hills - it took many months and I lost five kilograms in the process. Don't worry or be concerned on my behalf - four have been retrieved since and are back where they've come from - you know the all too obvious part between chest and the other - anyway enough of my musings. I obviously came across the part in the sorting out process and it is still available. It shames me to say that I have not fitted this modification to Gleaming Beauty. I realize that it is not a "must" at this point in time, but I would still like to consider fitting it. It would certainly do no harm.
Another consideration to influence the fitting of this strengthening device are the 18" rims that have been fitted to my car for a number of years now. Those wheels, trade marked "SPEEDY" and manufactured in Taiwan, are heavy, and I mean heavy. The size and the low profile tyres, viz. 235.45.18 result in a fairly solid brick like ride, very similar to the Air Suspension on a 6.3. Suffice to say, that I have original chromed Bundts available as a replacement, but I am quite happy with the ride and handling of my car. I do think, however, that there is some additional stress on the suspension and steering and the fitting of the modifications may well assist in prolonging longevity of my 6.9. Regards Styria
