Hi all

Ive had just about enough of my kjet. The thing is a headache and parts are hard to come by.

Thinking of a conversion to EFI

There is a long write up (a few years old now) on Benz World on a Megasquirt conversion

OR somthing like this

Any ideas, or an experst in Sydney that can fix the thing?

Thanks
Steven

Personally I would fix yours if you can. At least you can take it to a good mercedes benz garage who has factory literature and they can fix it. Once you go custom fuel injection you're going to limit where you can take it and harm resale. Plus K-jet injectors are very thin, so not sure how easy it would be to get a modern injector in there. D-jet on the other hand is actually closer to a modern fuel injection system and easier to convert.

We covered a few places in Sydney in this thread:

I got my SL 107 2.8 to run without a hitch... The Warm up regulator under the Manifold can be modified to be adjusted
The other seals etc are readily available from a specialist in Frenches Forest Can't remember the name... He has all the Test Equipment to test and set up.
Performance wise the Ignition Timing is critical.... Ignore the Static setting .Run Engine to 3500 Revs and set Mechanical timing at 36% BTDC. The Vacuum Unit is an economy device only. If Engine Pings use only 92 Octone Petrol and replace the weak old advance Springs . Alloys the Timing to advance to quickly at around 2000 Revs. I also fitted new Injectors and Seals. There are no short cuts.
