Used full hydro rear struts (W126) for sale via MB Club Qld if anyone is interested (not me; just saw the ad in club's Star Bits classifieds). (L)1263204013 and (R)1263204113. I’ve spoken to the seller previously, but being I don’t need even more spares, it’s hard to justify the significant investment. Hence they’re still for sale! Strangely someone had cut the small hydraulic lines instead of just unbolting them & I don’t even know if they could be replaced easily....

BTW they’re front struts where LH & RH are different. The rear ones are interchangeable. Road freight only & not via AUST Post since they freak out about the ‘high pressure’ cells!!

I sold the car a couple of days ago to someone in NSW looking for an engine donor. So that meant I had to get moving & remove all the HPF components including wiring. No small task as I discovered!!

It is obvious to me the system was installed prior to the drivetrain which makes some parts impossible to remove without a full strip down or permanent ‘modification’ of some pipes...

I had to buy a special Phillips bit driver to save 3 of the junction blocks. The block above the rear suspension carrier would’ve been impossible to remove without it; there’s almost zero clearance.

Apparently the car originated in South Africa. Strange since it had a Webasto preheater fitted but only parts of it remained... I would’ve saved that too but it was incomplete & a fire risk even when operative.

Now to pack it all up properly. Hopefully I’ll get to use it all in the future to upgrade a 6.9 system to the later S2.

Note to anyone intending to pull a system like this apart in the future; hot pressure wash everything BEFORE disassembly!! Not only will your overalls thank you, you’ll use fewer gloves & it’ll be less likely to get contaminants into the sensitive internal mechanisms....

Here’s a pic of the pesky rear junction block which can be seen above the rear subframe. This feeds the rear lower ball joints. You have to be Houdini to get it out in one piece!

There’s at least 5 pipes that run from the front to back of the car under the RHS. Of the 5 pipes 2 are far smaller and they feed the rear lower ball joints for stiffening & the adjustable link for auto lowering/raising.

This is great to see I have a 87 560sel hpf2 car here in America brought from Germany I would love to find a service manual for the suspension
