I thought I might start a new thread to specifically focus on the W126 hydro (series 2) suspension. This differs from the 6.9 and W126 series 1 systems and features adjustable damping, stiffening through corners and self lowering at high speed. I have 2 privately imported cars featuring this very expensive option, one a 560SEL and the other a 500SEL. Unfortunately neither is fully operational, but I'm aiming to get the 560 one up and running soon(ish).

I would be interested in hearing about the recommissioning of this system. I never knew the S2 W126 already had these features. Your 560SEL has some interesting options with the full hydro and heated seats but manual climate control. Quite a good combo.

The console pic is not of my car, although it's very similar. In some circles it's called HPFE. Not easy to get info, but here's some more pix found on the net that detail parts in the system (I wish I could read German or have it translated):

This is just as much a quick reference thread for myself as anyone else! From what I can tell the part numbers on the HPFE struts are:

RF: 126 320 4113
LF: 126 320 4013
Rear (both the same): 126 320 4313

This is a car I was chasing for various reasons but the owner was less than helpful. The car has now disappeared but I no longer need it (or any parts either).

I just received a large package from Germany & finally have all the parts I need to get the 560 back on the road (apart from new cells). Plus I have another full S2 system earmarked for something else... ������������

Haha I forgot about the last one I just posted in this thread!! Oh and I have 2 cars; Dora and and a green 500SEL which has been used for parts for many years by the PO.

These cars all have the high compression 300hp M117 and are very rare in Australia. I bet there’s few left worldwide. So here’s the latest count:

Dora is 1 of 4 known cars in the country that retains the S2 hydro suspension:

Silver, update grey interior split rear seats (Dora), VIC,
Impala Brown, Orthopedic front seats, NSW,
Navy, update beige interior, WA,
Grey, pre-update grey interior, QLD,

The other known cars in Australia with the HYDRO REMOVED are:

Blue/black update grey interior split rear seats, VIC,
Blue/black pre-update grey interior split rear seats ASR, ACT.
Navy pre-update grey interior, WA.

500SEL green, green cloth interior parts only, VIC.
