And after 14 years the fuel tank saga is over & she’s running again!! I’m glad I flushed the hoses, pipes & fuel head before trying to restart cause lots of junk & stale fuel came out. Some of it might've been rust particles, or flaking dried fuel well after it turned into molasses… It would’ve wrecked the fuel head or blocked the injectors, or just ended up back in the tank to block the strainer or seize the pump again!! The procedure isn’t that hard but you must be prepared or you’ll get fuel everywhere. I was prepared for things to end badly with no less than 4 fire extinguishers & a bucket of water on standby!

Hi Mark, I have at times been accused of writing a book instead of a simple, straightforward story. I don't mind, as I stubbornly and selfishly believe that a long story has got to be better than a short one. However, after re-reading this thread, I have come to the conclusion that I've got nothing on you and for this I gratefully acknowledge and admire your musings and ramblings on this esteemed forum. Thank you Mark, and great work which TK is blessed with.

I have been absent for a while due to a number of reasons, and in an effort to try and catch up a little, could you now elaborate on further details as far as Skye is concerned ? Is the car still in your possession and, if so, is it being used on a regular basis ? Any information would be welcome.
Going through the thread, I am just a little confused. I have seen two cars being featured, namely Skye, as well as the Silver Green car that presumably belonged to Jeff Kennett. Is there any connectivity between the cars ? Hope you don't mind bringing up these queries. Looking forward to hearing from you. Regards Styria

Skye has been sold & has now gone to its new guardian. The ex Kennett green car was posted here because it was rumoured to be the car driven by Fangio, which I’ve proven to be incorrect. Here are the last pix during my ownership.

Hi Mark, thank you for bringing me up to date. So, do you have any 6.9s left, or has your dream been shattered ? Mind you, I wouldn't blame you. 6.9s "can be" that sort of car, and looking at Skye, the cost of restoration would be significant. As a matter of interest, and I am digressing somewhat with everyone one's permission, there is a fellow (a very good salesperson) in the United States, speaks well and wears the obligatory Mechanics Foreman (Foreperson) dust coat and I remember him acquiring a 6.9 with a view to "fixing her up". I never saw the end of that project. Dare I say, it was "too difficult". Who knows. Regards Styria

Haha, no the dream still lives, despite the cars that were sold in 2023. Refer to my thread on Goldeneye… Plus I still have 2 x 220kW 560SELs

Mark, I have actually responded to you in the Golden Eye thread. Unless you're very, very resilient, Golden Eye could eventually get the better of you. Did you get a history with the car, or was it perhaps the Golden Eye price that prompted you to acquire the car ? You certainly have my blessings and best wishes. Regards Styria
N.B. BTW, any chance of getting pictures (present day) of the two 560SELs ? Are they both mobile and useable as daily drivers and have you sort of finished them now ?

Hi Styria yes Goldeneye has a full set of books. The price was far too good to ignore. Rome wasn’t built in a day, so I expect it will take at least a few years to finish.

The other 2 cars aren’t complete either, but Dora isn’t too far off being used as a weekend warrior. Midnight Express is further off completion & is currently being used as a development mule.
