240D algae part 6 - How I ruined my W123 fuel tank

In the last part, I used a fuel tank sealing product to seal my W123 fuel tank. This seemed to go quite well, but it turns out I had made a fatal mistake.

I stuffed up my fuel tank, and have another one on the way.

Oh dear - another of life's little trials! The good side is that another tank is not made of "unobtanium" so your beautiful diesel will live to tell the tale.

Yes indeed - I have a new tank being delivered to my house today. It’s from a 280E so should be less rusty

and the tank has arrived.

My diesel is now back up and running. It is sporting a fuel tank from a 280E.

yes Greg D in MBCNSW got me an excellent tank

240D is now off having the front brake calipers rebuilt as they were a little sticky

Just picked up the 240D after getting the front calipers rebuilt including new discs, pads and wheel bearings, plus four new brake hoses and an A/C regas.

Drives very nicely even on this 40C day, although the A/C isn't so great when you're stopped in traffic. Need to look at making the aux can come on more frequently as it works quite well under way.
