Regarding your 450slc oil consumption, my 450sl was getting Smokey at around 200000km. West Star auto at Penrith in Sydney inspected the valve guide seals but recommended removing the cylinder heads and doing a full reco of the heads including new valve guides. Very happy with the results and oil consumption is now about half a litre per 5000km
