New Year wash & detail for the Mercedes this morning after being away on Xmas holidays.

Fixed the front number plate and after much time & effort the front plate is now centered.

See what you think guys?

Cheers.

Well it does look better but we would need a straight on photo to really tell.
Do you need the backing plate? Is the bumper bar behind it flat and in good condition? If so, it might look better to mount it direct to the bar. What do you think, Tim?
By the way, the screw on the bottom left hand corner is rusty. The devil is in the detail....
Regards,
Brian

Take a straight on photo okay Brian.

Front plate has a backing plate long silver metal plate in fact which was fitted to the 300SE when I bought it.

Rusty screw needs to be replaced okay that screw holds the outside temp gauge in place.

Well I imagine it is the outside temp gauge device?

So if the backing plate has to stay fitted in order for the temp gauge to work.

To my eye the front number plate looks to be more centered.

Cheers.

Tim - instead of buying new batteries all the time you can go to Dick Smith or Tandy and buy rechargable batteries and a charger. You'll find that much cheaper in the long run.

Brian

Hi Brian,

Tandy stores did not know they still existed I have not seen a Tandy store in the Newcastle or Hunter area before?

Batts I have are rechargable and I also have a Energizer batt charger.

Anyhow enough talk about batteries!

Pic of the plate with a new screw.

Time for dinner and a cold drink or two maybe even three!
:D

Cheers.

Well done Tim,

That looks right smack in the middle. ;)

I wonder if the back plate is well centered?

Regarding the existence of Tandy stores.....:D...one of the problems that BenzBoy is unable to cope with is the fact that he shuns the existence of Television - as a consequence it should come as no surprise that he is unaware of the fact that Tandy no longer exist. I am waiting on another "faux pas" - is he still shopping at Nock & Kirbys, or Bebarfalds opposite the Town Hall in Sydney ? My mother bought a Bedroom suite from that company back in 1959 and it is still performing sterling service 'for visitors' - they don't make them like they used to. Regards Styria (and no smartie remarks either concerning the sterling service :))
