300SE bumpers

Due to the fact I lost points at last years Concours!


The front & rear bumpers have been removed and are in being prepared for repainting then refitted to the car.

Whilst the 300SE is at the spray painters there will be two dents removed on the bonnet and one dent on the boot removed.

I have never seen the car without the bumpers before.

The spray painter told me the car is a straight and an original looking car.

Called into the spray painters today and took the following photos.

Called into the spray painters today and I have been busy cleaning and polishing the front & rear of the car.

Notice there is less dirt and grime on the front & rear bumpers.

Two dents on the bonnet and one dent on the boot has been removed.

Bumpers will be finished early next week and the 300SE will be detailed before the car is good to come home.

No opinions about the repairs to the bumpers thus far?

We cannot see the bumper repairs Tim, they are not in the pics. The primer in the previous pics looks very primerish
I did note your cleaning efforts while the car is apart

Sorry Ant I should have stated the bumpers are still in the workshop waiting to be prepared for repainting.

Wait to hear from the spray painter when the car is ready to be picked up.

The bumpers were in the spray booth this afternoon.

Timmy, I really hope that your efforts and money spent on your car, are going to be truly recognized at this year's concours d'elegance. If not, don't worry, you have done, and are doing your best, and that's all one can ask for.

That's how paradoxical judging could be - I am not suggesting that it will be so. Take the quite beautiful wheel arch moulds that you purchased ? Personally, they really enhance the appearance of most cars, yet you are just as likely to find that judges may well raise their eyebrows disapprovingly ! That's why concours competitions can be so frustrating and disheartening. I remember many years ago when I entered Gleaming Beauty and one of the judges deducted points because the car was on as clean as it should have been in his eyes. Guess what ? The car was spotless. Another time (maybe the following year) and after days and days of preparation, the judges came along and noticed that there had been a change of colour, with the underbonnet section still being the original MB50 Taxi White - Guess what ? Again ! They did not even inspect the car - walked straight past her and I could overhear one of them "muttering" disparangly - "the underbonnet section of the car has a different colour. That was the beginning and end of judging Gleaming Beauty. Regards Styria

Good afternoon,

Well now the bumpers have been repainted and refitted back onto the car.

Rego renewed today as well.

300SE was ready to be picked up yesterday afternoon, and the car had been detailed as well.

There were three other W126 at last years Concours which were fitted with the chrome wheel arches.

Two of the W126 are previous Concours winners.

I think the recently acquired chrome wheel arches look terrific on the 300SE gives the car just a little more class!

Just wrapped with how the bumpers now look top job on behalf of the spray painter!

Whilst the bumpers were off the car so was the chrome trim.

Spray painter told me he uses Auto Smart detailing products to detail the car.

I have never heard of Auto Smart before have any TK Members heard of and used there products before?

The holes where the rear mudflaps used to be located have been blanked off whilst the bumpers were off the car for repainting.
