1990 560SEC - The last panzerwagon

It wasn’t the biggest of all S-Classes (that title goes to the next one in the row) but for many it was the best. And at the pinnacle of the Mercedes line-up of the 80’s sat this car. The big coupe with the huge V8 engine.

The W126 (and all of its mutations) was The Mercedes of all Benzes as they say. All those that came before were full of greasing nipples, their swivel axles buckled alarmingly when cornering, and the mechanical pumps in their injection systems packed up just by normal usage. Uh...and them diesels too. They all smelled like taxis.

They are an absolutely great looking car - just so much to admire. One in particular - you could almost say it was MB877 Petrol. A very dignified yet outstanding colour but, as a matter of interest, observe the state of the building in the background. The contrast couldn't be greater.

The Coupe shape is just so elegant, and I believe some of the interior furnishings are nothing short of amazing. Regards Styria

The only styling detail they got wrong on the C126 was the door handles with the plastic surround bit. The sedan handles are much better looking.

When I had my C126's, I disabled the seat belt presenters as my then girlfriend found them creepy, like somebody reaching over her shoulder. Maybe i've just got long arms as It never really bothered me not having them. I also did the badge delete, and removed the 560SEC badge. In 040 black, just having the Mercedes star and no logo. looked quite good.
