    Cheap new EVs

Yes, she is drawn to an EV largely for the environmental benefits. Otherwise she would have just replaced the lexus with something a bit newer and in better shape for about $10k. She doesn't really see the benefits of a new car generally, but when a privately imported car that is 7 years...

    Cheap new EVs

Yes, it probably would. But part of her buying decision was not totally financial, in that she is keen to own an EV for the perceived environmental benefits. It was just that she wasn't going to pay $60k for a small hatch, EV or not. So if the financial penalty above a petrol car was...

    Cheap new EVs

My sister ordered a new Nissan Leaf the other day. She has been building a garage at her home in the inner west, and had planned to buy a 2nd hand EV once the garage was completed. She has been driving my former Lexus GS300 for the last 6 or so years, and its hard a hard life parked on the...

350SE finally registered and on the road again

Nice to see original backer and original leather interior. Leather was an expensive option on the 350SE.

    Not to be Trusted

This is another tale, that is not quite the same, but ultimately a car stopping suddenly at freeway speed and the family feeling the car is not safe to drive even if its repaired...

    Not to be Trusted

Presume Sean is not legally responsible even if his car caused the accident in reality. The normal expectation is that you should leave a gap so you can stop without impacting another car if the car in front of you panic stops (eg cat runs on road).

    C107's C107

As an update, had the timing chain and valve seals done on the SLC, as it was constantly fouling plug #1. Now all good. https://www.classicjalopy.com/2024/04/m117-450-timing-chain-and-valve-stem-seals/ Also replaced the under bonnet insulations, on the 107 there are two and they are a bit...

    C107's 1981 240D W123

Next was the under bonnet insulation. I was already doing the 107 (will post some pictures of that soon) so did the 123 at the same time. https://www.classicjalopy.com/2024/05/w123-under-bonnet-insulation/

    C107's 1981 240D W123

Did the oil change. Diesels like this have black oil from day 1 but there was no sludge in the oil filter housing and the air filter was near new.

    Run Flat stupidity

You may have the rings to secure a child seat. You could somehow attach the spare wheel to one of those. A spare tyre is probably the weight of a mid size child so it should hold it.
