v12 motor from w140

A friend of mine has a v12 mercedes motor from a w140 s class for sale. It is a m120 from a 1998 s600. He believes it is in good condition and he doesnt want a lot for it. Make a great repower for another Benz. Any interest call me on 0428151830. Regards Aussie 6.9

If V12 W140's are selling so cheap question is what is wrong with the car?

I am sure we can all agree there is no such thing as a cheap Mercedes?

I have been for a drive in a 600SEL W140 V12 with my Mechanic at the wheel and the acceleration is unbelievable I must say!

Hi Tim this is for the motor only. But W140 600 only go from $10000 to high 20's but as you know still have $350000 car repair bills. So there are a lot out there that are under maintained. Geoff

Having owned a few V12 cars id run like hell in the opposite direction unless you have a great and patient mechanic on staff and very deep pockets.

Nothing is straight forward with a bent 12 so life definitely wont be boring.

Last V12 I bought cost me $300, I bought it for the carburettors and then went into the scrap bin.

Some mook wanted it as a coffee table and I said no so he snuck back in the middle of the night to filtch it from the bin and not only sliced up his arm and hand badly he also broke his leg lol

I found out about it when the cops called me at 4am on behalf of the ambo's who hauled this dick away after unpinning him from under the engine in my scrap bin.

Even broken they are evil.........

BTW, I had him charged too.

ENGINES sold separate but it is not the end of the story , there are plenty still to do , first the transition , the wiring and the radiator , engine mounts and brake system plus suspension.

Id do the timing belt/chain before it goes into anything, all seals and anything likely to go bung in the next 100 thou n make sure the thing is MINT before it goes in.

Then again I wouldn't do it.

Even the 5.3lt Jagwah 12's which i know my way around are an engine out proposition if you want the job done right on anything and the funny part is that the few I have removed never went back in again once parts and labour quotes were submitted.

The one guy who did love them ran 2 x Mercedes V12's in his boat and was a Merc trained Mechanic who swore by them, Unusual because you normally swear AT them.

That said I know 2 people with W140's that had 12's from new and no longer than their lease being 3 on one and 5 years on another and both had a good run apart from some outrageous bills for servicing (I think a 90k service was 4k or similar) and Helmet can probably elaborate here better than I can.
