Trying to sell a car at a premium price requires you to show it off at its best.

Yep, you did remark on it a while ago and we dissected the listing and found it to be dodgy.

Sorry guys n gals I forgot we'd already seen this one! Obviously the owner isn't prepared to drop the price.... There's market value, agreed insurance value, resale value, book value, stamp duty value, sentimental value and purchase price which can all vary. I know what people are prepared (and not prepared) to pay, but my question is what SHOULD they be selling for? To me you can't buy a reliable, comfortable car for less than $10K. In reality I'd probably look at spending between $10-$15K on the top-of-the-range in a chosen model. More than that and it's progressively harder to justify. That doesn't take into account collectability, so I'd probably add an extra $5-$10K for that. So really, a very nice example of a collectable car (with nothing to spend), should be $20-$25K as a starting point.....
