I was not at the auction (obviously) but was told the P1 required extensive restoration including a new body and a rebuild of the engine, which by then would make it totally over capitalised...
I would doubt a new body was required. I base that on an inspection. The engine I have not heard run so I can't comment.
Overcapitalised? Hmmmmm - hard to judge.
A nice but not concours PII Continental 4 door saloon by Park Ward changed hands just recently for approx $800K. True, a Continental is a step up the ladder from a Limousine and value depends as much on coach-builder as condition.
Phantoms sit in a highly specialised market and can be a minefield for even the Registrar.
