The Phantom was serioulsy undervalued - but it is a limousine with divider and fixed driving position. Heaps of rear leg room but I could not fit in the driving seat and get my body under the steering wheel...
Otherwise, the PI was in quite good condition.

I must admit surprise at the price the p1 sold for. I know i would never fit behind the wheel of an old limousine . As being over 6ft and having been a weight lifter in my younger years i know it would be difficult. I have loved old Rolls Royce's since driving bus's over 20 years ago for Murrays when they were owned by the old man. And he had a collection of vintage Rolls Royce's that i was privileged to drive some of them on occasion . Thankfully none that i drove had the dividing window

I would doubt a new body was required. I base that on an inspection. The engine I have not heard run so I can't comment.
Overcapitalised? Hmmmmm - hard to judge.
A nice but not concours PII Continental 4 door saloon by Park Ward changed hands just recently for approx $800K. True, a Continental is a step up the ladder from a Limousine and value depends as much on coach-builder as condition.
Phantoms sit in a highly specialised market and can be a minefield for even the Registrar.

P1 sold at auction for $20,000 and needs restoration OUCH!!!

Hi 260ebenz no it was the Leyland p76 that sold for $20000 the Rolls Royce P1 went for $62000 . And to think the last couple of 6.9 sold at Shannons have failed or only just hit $10000

Even though $20K for a P76 Leyland is top dollar they weren't a very good even new?

Hi 260ebenz i used to own a p76 or p38 as they are sometimes called ie half a car. They drove light years better that any other Australian car at the time. They also had everything that was good and bad about British Leyland at the time. Would i own one again no i dont think so .
