Presently, Parks has an absolutely delightful project in our workshop - it is an exquisitely styled Allemano Abarth 750cc Convertible - when we have the opportunity, we'll post photos of this baby. Anyway, I had always been vaguely familiar with the name Allemano, an Italian Coachbuilder of some note that closed his doors back in 1965. Anyway, googling Allemano guided me to Coachbuild.com and, if remembering correctly, Benz Boy may already have come up with this site some four weeks ago - I think.

Anyway, doing a bit of 'looking', I came across this 1922 Bugatti that's been retrieved from the bottom of Lago Maggiore. Such a romantic name for a lake, also perpetuated by an Italian singer by the name of Vico Torriani - he had any number of hits back in '50s - before the advent of Rock 'n Roll. So, it will be interesting what will happen to this Bugatti.....I am hoping the link will work.

Just a few more that some of us may only just be able to dream about - certainly myself, anyway.

Lancia Aurelia - beautiful example...http://www.coachbuild.com/index.php?option=com_gallery2&Itemid=50&g2_itemId=38766

...is this magnificent or what...

...you'd just have to have it - Old Bentley No. 2 - factory racer at Le Mans

...Beautiful, ugly, typically over-restored a la Yankee style - Brewster bodied Rolls Royce..

...now, THAT is a car - I'd love to see one in real life. It'd be mind boggling.

Thankfully, no white wall tyres.

Shades of our BenzBoy's Gurney Nutting Rolls Royce - that bonnet, sure is long...

Well........................just dreaming...

All amazing. I have to agree with one of the comments left on the article about the Bugatti - who will bid for this? Surely there's barely anything salvagable at all from that car? A restoration would end up being a complete remanufacture, wouldn't it? Still, that's not to say I don't hope somebody is able to save what can be saved from it.

I think my vote for favourite in that list you've posted would be the 1934 D'Ieteren Hispano-Suiza J12 Convertible Victoria. Simply stunning!

Hi ChrisP, I am not sure just how much of the website, and how many pictures you were able to bring up. However, in one of them, the two tone grey convertible (there is the red one as well) is shown front on. Once you come to that picture, you'll spot a beautifully black "Autobahn Kurier" (similar in style to Bentley and Mercedes versions that we have seen on topklasse).

Now, THAT black car looks MAGNIFICENT-I wonder if anyone knows its make and whatever model car it is likely to be. It is sensational. Regards Styria

Absolutely correct Styria. The silly buggers have chromed the Autovac. That in itself would be enough to disqualify the vehicle from ANY Rolls-Royce Club Concours anywhere in the world.....They should have used stove black.
Hurrrrumph!!

Benz-Boy

Hi Michiel, thank you for your reply. I had always known of myself possessing good taste, and my belief has been vindicated again ! I am pleased that you have been able to identify the car, and goodness, what a magnificent piece of "sculpture" it is - it is not really a motor car. Would anyone like to guess its value ? In Euros - 5 million ?

Just as a matter of interest, going through the various pictures, I am sure I recognized, or seemed to recall, that one of our members (may have been Des), had already posted a picture of this car in one of our threads sometime last year. What makes me think is one setting in front of a tent with a guy and his female companion looking at the car. Plus, the Blondie in the black dress...... Anyway, Michiel, thanks again. I see you're in the Netherlands, and possibly you may wish to let us know a little about yourself, your car, preference of wine, song............:D Regards Styria

You're welcome.

Welcome to the forum. :D
Maybe you are the person who knows a little more about J Gurney Nutting then? I refer to my PII by Gurney Nutting - any links or information would be gratefully received.

Benz-Boy

We still have to add Gurney Nutting to the Gallery. If you join our forum, you can see the many interesting cars posted in there, mostly by Rob Geelen, who is an avid Rolls-Royce & Bentley enthusiast. There is a PII thread. It would be great if you could add your car as well.

Wow parks. I struggle to operate the soft top on my R107, and you make these things from scratch. Looks to be a superb fit too. Well done.

Yeah it is a nice little car Brian, its certainly grown on me since ive had it....

Do you mean to convey that your 6 foot 6" frame now fits into the car ? :D Even 116 territory can be a bit of a hassle. Regards Styria

I couldn't help myself from digging up this post. It is one of my favourite ones. It is amazing just how much one forgets. I have a series of pics of the Abarth in my photo collection and have kept on thinking that I should put it on TK. Well, voila, I can now stop thinking about it. Just as an add-on, Parks is in the process of a complete restoration of a six cylinder 1931 Rolls Royce SEdan with leather roof - you guys should try and count the number of tacks the coachbuilder used. Thousands of them, and each one requires removal. Regards Styria
