Bought this the other day. It is not running and the previous owner has been told that the ECU is kaput. I bought it because I have a 300E-24 and will use mine to test it and hope that is what the problem is. If so, I will get another one from the UK, then decide what to do with it. Because of the ECU, it was cheap, so if all else fails, I can use it for a parts car.

Yes, it is the ACT car. I had a spare ECU until 2 weeks ago and sold it ! Talk about timing.

Looks very straight on the pic.
Ignition ECU's are crazy price for this model and second hand ones are becoming harder to find.

Yes, they sure are ! Sydney Wide European Autos quoted me $2,000 for one. Fortunately, I know someone that used to rebuild them in the UK (they no longer do it as it is not financially viable) but he can usually find me one for around $300.

After all those encouraging details and findings, I think I am well advised to stick to the tried and true - Gleaming Beauty. BTW, as a matter of interest, used units, even in England, may not be all that easy to source for the 24 valve engine. I just wonder......Regards Styria

N.B. Well, other than that, it looks a lovely car. Good luck with it Craig - I hope it's a better buy than the Citroen C% you had bought.

Well, drove to Canberra early this morning to collect the 300CE. Arrived about 9.30, changed the battery, installed the ignition module and put some fuel in it and it started right up. Checked oil, water and tyre pressures, then drove it back to Sydney. Put it up on the hoist and everything is in pretty good shape, including the diff mounts.

The previous owner had left a receipt in the car indicating that he had bought it in August 2012 for $9,500.

Everything works, except for the rear headrests dropping down with the switch, so suspect the vacuum line has come out. Will investigate in due course.

Well done Craig - another ' scalp' in your bag - now, will you still be able to bring along the 6.9 to our get together ? It'd be nice to see a few 6.9s lined up. Regards Styria

Nice one Craig, sometimes you need to keep your finger on the button for 2 or 3 seconds before the head rests drop .
