So the French Government is implying that the latest Mercedes cars are bombs!

Not really. It has been discussed on here before and is an ongoing dispute between the EU on one side and VAG/DB on the other. DB has been able to demonstrate that under some circumstances there is an increased risk of fire with the new gas but Rod etc. claim their tests show it to be OK.
It looks to me a little like the Eurocrats getting carried away. But - it has been here before so it's not breaking news.

No, they are using the old gas so that are NOT bombs. The new, environmentally friendly gas is flammable and Benz refuse to use it .

And frankly I would believe the engineers from Benz before I would accept the analysis of the Eurocrats......
