I’m sure I’ve posted about this amazing car before, but searching revealed nothing! Named after it’s drag coefficient & powered by a M100 6.3 mid Mount with a special intake likely built by AMG/MKB. The engine may even have been sourced from AMGs surplus after the Red Pigs were retired. Interesting that it was released in 1979 with the older 6.3 despite the fact the 6.9 was available from 1975. Acceleration figures would’ve put it in the supercar category when it was built. Featured in the appalling movie called ‘Carnapping’.

Note that’s around 100hp more than the later & larger 6.9! You’d assume it used the earlier 6.3 injection, but there’s no mention of those details. Clearly exhaust & intake are the keys to more power...

What is interesting is the timeline of these vehicles. First the Red Pig, followed by the 1972 Interserie car. Seems AMG then moved on to the 4V M117s while B+B built the 1979 CW311 and Sbarro the 1987 Monster G. Seems to me they were all engines sourced from AMG/MKB.

Oh and of course the Sbarro eSpace GT1 of 1999!! Still with a modified M100 6.3

Of course the 6,8L Red Pig made 420hp, which is 45hp more than the 6,3L CW311. So that’s now roughly 145hp more than a 6.9

I find it surprising the CW311 wasn’t a 6.8L. Despite that, the power is much higher than a regular 6.3 with a intake manifold which isn’t vastly different. Something doesn’t make sense. Oh and I was just viewing a video showing the car being assembled & transported in the AMG Mampe truck showing direct collaboration between AMG/MKB & B+B on the project. I’ll find the link...

Some stills from the video revealing the manifold. Not vastly different from a standard 6.3, but fitted in reverse with perhaps a larger diameter & shorter snout. The airfilter was rather compact & likely restrictive.

Stills from the rest of the video. Note the Porsches in the background. Obviously they weren’t worried about driving 1/2 a car on the open road with many onlookers around!

Here’s a few more still frames from the video plus a contemporary article sadly incomplete atm. I’ll try to get the whole article to post soon. Note the car must’ve been so loud the engineers had to wear earmuffs!
