Adenauer 300 Front Calipers

I guess most of us know just that little bit (or more) about those magnificent machines. Even today, you stand in awe looking at them at Concourses and the like with their impeccable exterior styling and lavish interior. If anyone is not familiar with their styling, I can dig out a couple of pics without too much difficulty.

What is quite unusual, and decidedly unexpected, is the three caliper piston layout for the front brakes...



Guess what ? The P6B (small V8 Rovers 1969-1976) have got exactly the same brakes. Wonder if there would be any difference in the price of a seal kit either from Mercedes or a Rover/Brake outlet ? Regards Styria

Very interesting caliper. I've not before seen a caliper where the inner and outer castings are NOT mirror images of eachother.

on the topic of Adenauers, a fellow member of the MB club here in South Africa actually has a genuine 4-door cabrio : "300 b Cabriolet D" to be precise. He bought it some 20 years ago, at which time it had already been standing in the weather many many years, most of that time in Mozambique. It seems it may have been some diplomatic vehicle originally. Consequently, all the trim, interior, cabrio top etc were totally destroyed. the engine was disassembled and incomplete. This guy has really worked on this car now for decades, and he seems on track to complete the resto in the near future. HE claims that the hardest call he ever had to make was cutting up a good 300 c 4-door to donate the required sheet metal, trimmings etc to reconstitute the severely rusted cabrio.
