Interesting on a few counts and I suspect that in a straight line with more than a 3 speed auto the 6.9 would do far better.

Is it me or is the AMG far noisier in the cabin at speed?

It's really not much of a contest, is it ? There is no doubt that the last ten years (if not more), have witnessed tremendous engine technology improvements. Yet, I am still happy with 6.9 liters of 'slow coach' acceleration. The torque figure is still more than adequate. Noise wise - AMG have tuned a toxic exhaust noise into their system - it is quite exhilarating and certainly puts a smile on your face. Regards Styria

You simply can't compare the two, very different, technologies.
As the Godfather said, the advancement in car/engine design in the last 10-20 years has been done at lightning speed.
Would love to have a 6.9 with a 5 or 6 speed auto!
