The old Citroen Deux Cheveux, anyone remember them? I saw one in Sydney yesterday. Used to have one myself back in 1987 and I loved it to bits. Would dearly like to get hold of another one (wife permitting). Can there have ever been a stranger car?

Extraordinarily useful for carrying a basket of eggs across a field without making omelettes. Yes, I could even fit one in the garage without alterations or buying out the neighbours.

The basket of eggs thing is actually quite serious. I believe that's what they were trying to achieve with the design of the suspension.

I'm pretty sure that I recently saw a Charleston for sale for $12,000. I paid 600 pounds (about $1,400) for my blue Club. Rust got it in the end but my God it was fun to drive.

Hi E200K, WITHOUT being personal, I would have thought that one would have to be 'unconventional' to the extreme to want to own or drive one. You could say, what the heck anyone may think as you're driving along or sit at the traffic lights, but I know I'd think...mmm...different - if you you know what I mean.

Besides, it WILL NOT plough through a muddy field as well as some other cars nowadays as I saw in a test some months ago when there was an attempt to extoll the virtues and qualities of the 2CV in muddy conditions. In today's situations, they're only of curiosity value - well, at least that's what I think. Regards Styria

Let's just say that as a young-shaver in the late 90s I thought I was a bit unconventional. To be honest, it was the perfect car for a young lad without much money. It only cost me 600 quid and the engine never missed a beat. It wasn't a fast car, of course, as it only had a 600cc engine, but what it lacked in speed it made up for in originality and fun. Basically it was a fun car to drive.

Amongst the best features was the fact that it was air-cooled which meant that during the cold winter months in the UK, the heater would blow hot almost straight away after starting the engine.

On the downside, it would have been a death-trap in an accident. You could dent a panel if you sneezed near it.

Perhaps that's where the Koreans and Chinese learned their car-body building technique. :D

I once had a 22-year-old ID16 (very early one, 1958 or '59). Great driving car despite the atrocious rust.
